Michigan Outperforms National Unemployment Rate

The OnStaff Group is happy to say we play a role in finding employment for those searching here in Southwest Michigan!

Michigan manufacturers should be proud of the role they played in driving down Michigan’s unemployment. As of September, Michigan’s 5.0 percent unemployment is below the national average of 5.1 percent — the first time since August 2000.

“We need to stay focused on our goal, but it also is important to look back to see how far we’ve come,” said Governor Snyder. “Michigan’s unemployment rate was once the worst in the United States. Today we are below the national average for the first time since August 2000. This means more people in Michigan are able to use their skills and are finding fulfilling jobs to support themselves and their families, making our cities and our communities stronger in a variety of ways.”

The state’s manufacturing sector and many of the MMA-supported policies have played a major role in Michigan’s return to prominence, creating more than 137,000 new sector manufacturing jobs since 2009 and nearly tripling the state’s average growth rate across all sectors.

“The Michigan story is a great one, and our best chapters have yet to be written,” said Snyder.
